url shortener, http://goo.gl/ and https://bitly.com/ 

Sometimes, we may need to use a short url if the original link is too long.
For example, tweeter have words limits, if the link is too long, even can't put the whole link in the message.
Or sometimes, people don't want others see the referal link, they may use url shortener too.

So, just tell what I usually use to make short url.
I usually use google url shortner, but I also saw many bitly url users.

So,you may try these two websites.
Of course, there are also many other url shorteners, like tinyurl or so.
